Development of tourism at Great Silk Road discussed in London
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan attended the session of the Task Force Group of the Silk Road Programme of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which was held within the International Tourism Fair “World Travel Market” in London, the press service of Uzbektourism said.

The member states of the UNWTO Silk Road Programme discussed preparation of action programme of Silk Road tourism development for 2012-2013, as well as development of key activities and priorities of the programme.

The Task Force Group considered implementation of action plan on development of tourism at Silk Road, including long-term and short-term goals, interaction of the sides in promotion of Silk Road brand at international tourism market, etc.

A delegation of Uzbektourism briefed the participants on measures, carried out in Uzbekistan to develop tourism and the results of Tashkent International Tourism Fair, which was held on 2-4 November 2011.

The Uzbek side also proposed to set tourism road signs on main roads of popular tourism routes of the Great Silk Road.

The action plan on development of tourism at Silk Road for 2010-2011 was approved at the session of the UNWTO “Silk Road Tourism Development”, which was held in October 2010 in Samarkand.

The action plan covers such issues as tourism at Great Silk Road and determines strategic activities in such key areas as marketing, promotion of Great Silk Road brand, expanding tourism potential and management of tourism center at Great Silk Road, etc.

The UNWTO Silk Road Programme was adopted in 1994. Representatives of 19 countries adopted historic declaration at Registan Square in Samarkand.
