The event was organized by the Committee on information and communication technologies of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI).

UzACI said that representatives of the Committee on information and communication technologies of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, UzACI, information-library centers of Uzbekistan, etc.

The resolution of President of Uzbekistan “On organization of information-library service of population of Uzbekistan” from 20 June 2006 sets firm tasks on effective development of information-library establishments, improvement of legal base of their operation, etc.

Based on studying international experience and local practice, as well as legislation, Uzbekistan developed the law “On information-library activity”, which regulates relations in the area. The law determines status and functions of information-library establishments, strengthening material-technical base, etc.

At the opening of the seminar, it was noted that the majority of articles of the Law determine norms on coordination and interaction of information-library establishments on forming library funds, electronic catalogues, mutual use and exchange of resources among establishments.

Participants familiarized with principally new functional opportunities on use of information-communication technologies at the National library, and automated information library system, which was developed for automatization of all library processes.
