Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 December 2024, the leadership of Uzbekiston Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) held discussions with Jin Kang, the project leader from SAMAN Corporation (South Korea), regarding the commencement of the development of the preliminary feasibility study (PTEO) for the construction of the new high-speed railway line "Tashkent – Samarkand."
This project was initiated by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and aims to modernize the country’s transportation system. The new railway line will significantly reduce travel time between the two major cities, enhance passenger comfort, and improve the quality of transportation services.
The parties emphasized the importance of the project for improving interregional connections, increasing passenger flow, and expanding the number of high-speed train services. The implementation of this project will be a crucial step in strengthening the country’s economic development and elevate Uzbekistan’s transportation sector to a new level.
As a result of the negotiations, it was decided to establish a working group to expedite the preparation of the feasibility study for the project.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the creation of high-speed railway lines at the meeting of the management of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, held in September in Samarkand. These lines will connect Tashkent with Samarkand, as well as Samarkand with Navoi and Bukhara.
