Development of cooperation discussed with the head of administration of the Malaysian state of Kedah

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the Kuala Lumpur Summit, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev met with the head of the Kedah state administration, Mukhriz Mahathir, Dunyo reported.

Located in northwestern Malaysia, Kedah is known for producing 70 percent of the rice and 15 percent of the country’s electrical products. The region has a developed tourism sector, which makes up 30 percent of the state’s regional gross product.

At the meeting, information was presented on successive transformations in the economy of Uzbekistan, improvement of the business environment in the country, open investment policy, economic potential, a rich raw material base for the possibility of manufacturing products with high added value and reducing the tax burden for industrial enterprises.

Mahathir praised the dynamic growth of macroeconomic indicators of Uzbekistan, favorable conditions for foreign investors, the active support of the government of small and medium-sized businesses, which plays a key role in raising the national economy.

The parties noted the intensification of multifaceted cooperation, as well as the need to further attract leading Malaysian enterprises, including from Kedah state, to implement joint projects in the petrochemical, rubber, electrical, and energy sectors based on interregional cooperation with the regions of Uzbekistan.
