Development of a joint Uzbek-Japanese film is underway

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Contacts in the field of cinema occupy an important place in the active development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan. At present, the issue of creating a joint feature film dedicated to the memory of Japanese internees in Uzbekistan is being worked out.

In this regard, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan with a member of the Japanese Association of Directors, director of the Ninomiya Kinjiro project, Sho Igarashi.

During the conversation, the Japanese director was familiarized with the history and current level of relations between Uzbekistan and Japan, the reverent attitude of the Uzbek people to the memory of Japanese internees and the preservation of their graves in the republic.

S. Igarashi emphasized that this work is designed to show the spiritual closeness and historical ties of the Uzbek and Japanese peoples, which are characterized by a special sense of mercy and nobility.

He noted that in order to better understand the national spirit of the Uzbek people, he began to comprehensively study Uzbekistan, including with great interest read the book of the former Japanese ambassador to Uzbekistan K. Nakayama "Sakura of Uzbekistan", and also got acquainted with the archival documents of the post-war period of Japanese history.

The Japanese director is considering the possibility of a visit to Uzbekistan at a time acceptable to both parties to familiarize himself and discuss the issues of creating a joint film.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to maintain close working contacts to work out the issues of creating a joint Uzbek-Japanese film.
