Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 April 2023, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Adiz Boboev held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank delegation headed by Senior Social Development Specialist Robert Wrobel.
The meeting was attended by the head of the project office “Rural Infrastructure Development” Zafar Urakov and the responsible officer of the Department for Coordinating the Activities of Project Groups and Technical Support Projects Nam Alexandra.
For the timely and effective implementation of the Decree of the Head of State dated November 25, 2020 No. PD-4898 “On measures to implement the World Bank project “Rural Infrastructure Development” with the participation of the International Development Association of the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank”, within the framework of the project “Development of Rural Infrastructure” under the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Ferghana, Andijan, Namangan, Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions, a number of works are being carried out.
Within the framework of the project, during 2020-2024, as a result of the modernization of basic infrastructure and social facilities in 306 mahallas in 21 districts of 5 regions, an improvement in the living standards of about 1.3 million people will be achieved. About US$183.6 million are allocated for these purposes.
During the conversation between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the World Bank, negotiations were held on the implementation of Phase 2 of the project, taking into account the specifics of the Rural Infrastructure Development project, that is, formation based on the mobilization of the population and community.
In particular, the parties discussed the issues of expanding the processes of exchanging experience in the continuation and development of the project, preparing the necessary documentation for Phase 2 of the project, supporting the participation of women in the project, providing technical assistance and wider use of renewable resources.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on further expansion and development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
