Deputies reviewed the draft law on animal identification, registration, and traceability

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has conceptually reviewed the draft law "On Animal Identification, Registration, and Traceability" in its first reading.

The draft law aims to implement a unified state policy for the identification of domestic animals, prevention of infectious diseases, and ensuring the safety of food products in the country.

The document proposes the creation of an animal registration system, which will include a unified electronic database containing information about each animal's breed and health status. It will also define the rights and responsibilities of specialists involved in animal identification, registration, and traceability, as well as producers of identification tags and animal owners.

The initiators of the law believe that the animal identification system will enhance food safety, prevent the spread of infectious diseases, and improve epidemiological well-being. The system is proposed to cover not only large livestock, such as cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, and camels, but also dogs and cats.

Adopting this draft law will create a database to forecast livestock production for domestic and international markets and ensure guaranteed ownership and use of animals by their owners.

Deputies noted that the innovations in the draft law contribute to the implementation of a unified state policy in livestock identification, ensuring the quality of livestock products in domestic and foreign markets, and maintaining epidemiological well-being. After discussion, the draft law was approved by the deputies in the first reading.
