Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has passed in the first reading a bill aimed at strengthening measures to protect against domestic violence. This was reported by the press service of the lower house of parliament.
According to the bill, amendments and additions will be made to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes, and the Code of Administrative Responsibility.
In particular, Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to domestic violence, will be supplemented with provisions for the commission of domestic violence against a child. Currently, the law imposes criminal liability for violence against a spouse or other persons living in the family, but does not include similar provisions for actions against a child.
Article 583 of the Criminal Procedure Code will be supplemented with a second part: "A statement of reconciliation in cases related to domestic violence may be filed at any stage of the judicial proceedings, but before the court retires to a separate room (conference room)."
The Code of Administrative Responsibility will also include provisions defining responsibility for committing domestic violence against a child.
These changes are aimed at enhancing the protection of children and ensuring stricter measures against domestic violence in Uzbekistan.
