Deputies approve bill on animal registration: Free identification and enhanced owners’ Rrights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has passed the draft law "On the Identification, Registration, and Tracking of Animals" in its third reading and submitted it to the Senate for approval.
The document regulates procedures for animal record-keeping, establishes rules for their identification and registration in an electronic system, and records data on breed and health status.
The bill defines the responsibilities of government agencies, the duties of specialists, and the rights of animal owners, increasing accountability and encouraging proper registration.
Ahead of the second reading, the draft was refined based on lawmakers’ suggestions. It now includes provisions ensuring free identification and registration of animals, as well as strengthening owners’ rights and the obligations of relevant authorities.
The adoption of this law will enable the implementation of a unified policy in the sector, improve the quality of livestock products, ensure veterinary safety, and establish a legal framework for animal record-keeping.
