Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – At the next plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft law "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On Public Procurement,’" aimed at further improving the public procurement system, is being considered in the second reading.

The draft law proposes the introduction of sustainable development principles into the field of public procurement, which will create additional opportunities for public purchasers. It is also envisaged that the Cabinet of Ministers will approve the procedure for considering complaints submitted to the commission for reviewing complaints in the field of public procurement.

Moreover, it is proposed to automatically enter into the Unified Register of Unreliable Suppliers those participants found guilty of crimes related to fraud, forgery, and corruption by court decision.

The draft law includes the introduction of a simplified procedure for low-value procurements, a new type of procurement that will allow public purchasers to select the best offers or conclude contracts based on the results of tenders.

Deputies noted that the adoption of this draft law will ensure the openness and transparency of the public procurement system, improve procurement procedures based on international experience, and attract entrepreneurs to participate in public procurement.

The draft law was adopted by the deputies in the third reading.
