Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President has signed Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

The law prohibits the creation and activities of foreign political parties or their branches in Uzbekistan.

The annual state funding allocated to political parties will now be calculated at 2.5% of the basic estimated value (BEV) established on 1 September of the year, multiplied by the number of citizens included in the voter lists from the last elections to the Legislative Chamber (previously 2% of the BEV).

These funds will be distributed by the Ministry of Justice among eligible political parties as follows:

- 40% equally among political parties;
- 60% proportionally based on the number of seats they have in the Legislative Chamber.

Additionally, the list of circumstances under which a deputy's or senator's term can be terminated early has been expanded to include:

- Engagement in other paid activities (excluding scientific, creative, and teaching activities) by a deputy or senator working full-time in the Senate after receiving a warning;
- Absence without valid reasons for 30 or more working days in a year from the activities of the chamber, party faction, committee, or commission they were elected to;
- Obtaining a foreign residency permit or any other document confirming the right to permanent residence;
- Withdrawal from the party by a deputy elected based on the party list that nominated them.

Furthermore, the following measures will be taken for violations of ethical rules by deputies and senators:

- Issuing a warning;
- Requiring an apology;
- Announcing the violation of ethical rules;
- Withholding salary for full-time deputies or senators in the Senate;
- Early termination of powers.

Similar measures will apply to deputies of regional, district, and city Councils of People's Deputies.

In cases of absence without valid reasons from sessions of the respective chamber, party faction, committee, or commission, the daily wage of the deputy or senator will be withheld for each instance of absence without their consent.
