Dempo’s defeat heaviest in AFC Cup
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- India’s Dempo Sports Club suffered the heaviest defeat in the AFC Cup history so far with their 9-0 humiliation at the hands of Uzbekistan’s Nasaf on Wednesday.

Nasaf ensured their place in the next stage with their 100 per cent record in this year’s competition but the defeat made the task difficult for the Indian outfit.

Nasaf are on 12 points from four games, six more than Lebanon’s Al Ansar and nine ahead of Dempo and Al Tilal (Yemen).

In the 2006 edition of the competition, Jordan’s Al Wehdat thrashed Bangladesh’s Mohammedan 7-0 and Malaysian side Kedah outclassed Hanoi ABC (Vietnam) by the same scoreline in the 2009 edition.

Kuwait Sports Club downed India’s Churchill Brothers 7-1 in 2010 while Vietnam’s Binh Duong sidelined Kedah 8-2 in the Round of 16 a year earlier.

Until Nasaf's win yesterday, Uzbekistan outfit Shurtan’s 7-2 victory over Yemen’s Al Saqr was the biggest victory margin in this year's edition.
