Demonstration of Uzbek national costumes takes place in Pakistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad organized a visit of representatives of the Sharq liboslari Design Center to the Uztukimachiliksanoat Association and the Tadbirkor Ayol Association, Dunyo news agency reported.

The purpose of the visit is to assist the Uzbek textile industry in establishing cooperation with representatives of relevant departments and foreign partners of Pakistan, as well as popularizing the Uzbek national clothing and attire, the rich culture and history of our country, including demonstrating the unique tourism and export potential of Uzbekistan, including in the textile industry.

The diplomatic mission of our country, together with IQRA University, held a show of traditional Uzbek outfits (Fashion show) at the Serena hotel in Islamabad.

At the event, the Pakistani side was represented by the spouse of the President of Pakistan Samina Alvi as an honored guest.

It was also attended by representatives of socio-political circles of Pakistan, members of the government, parliament and leading media.

Alvi noted that Uzbekistan and Pakistan have strong historical and cultural ties, common traditions and values. In this context, she praised the unique historical and cultural heritage of the Baburids in Pakistan, who cultivated a unique civilization in the region, including literature and art. This, in her opinion, is a solid foundation for unique, strong and friendly Pakistani-Uzbek relations.

The Fashion Show, organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad, is a unique example of a new format of public diplomacy, capable of making a special contribution to strengthening bilateral relations and intercultural exchange. The work of Uzbek national outfits is distinguished by a high level of spirituality and commitment to national traditions,” she said.

Within the framework of the Fashion show, more than 70 samples of Uzbek national clothes and outfits were demonstrated. According to the participants, the Uzbek collection embodied a variety of traditional materials, national elements, consisting of satin wraps, adras, evening dresses, head ornaments and others.

The participants were keenly interested in the corner of Uzbek national designer clothes and textile materials, organized by representatives of the Uztuqimachiliksanoat Association and the Sharq liboslari Design Center.

Of particular interest were the efforts of the leadership of our country to develop the activities of design centers for national clothes, including the Shar liboslari center. The Pakistani public praised the activities of the Tadbirkor Ayol Association, which also actively encourages private enterprise among women in Uzbekistan.

According to the vice-president of IQRA University M.Islam, the Uzbek collection has incorporated the ancient history of Uzbekistan, the beauty and traditions of the peoples of Central Asia as a whole. In his opinion, the demonstrated collection of national clothes confirms the cultural closeness of the peoples of the two countries, shows the historical influence of the Uzbek culture and traditions, especially representatives of the Baburid dynasty on the formation of various aspects of culture and traditions in this subcontinent.

Professor of the Faculty of Fashion and Design at IQRA University S. Niazi noted that Uzbekistan has something to present to the world of the fashion industry. According to her, Pakistan and Uzbekistan have great potential for the development of cooperation, both in the production of joint and modern textile products, and in the implementation of joint design work. She emphasized that Uzbek designers have great potential for growth and entry into international catwalks and markets.

During the event, a video on the tourism potential of Uzbekistan was also shown. The event participants positively assessed the country’s tourism opportunities.
