Delegation of Uzbekistan visits Belgium
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Belgium signed a protocol on introduction of changes to Convention on avoiding double taxation and preventing evasion from payment of tax for income and capital in Brussels on 18 February 2015, the press service of the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan said on 3 March.

Chairperson of the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan Botir Parpiyev and Minister of Finance of Belgium Johan Van Overtveldt, as well as Minister of Finance of Flanders region Annemie Turtelboom signed the document.

During the ceremony, both sides expressed satisfaction with signed protocol, considering it as mutual interest to further expanding and deepening mutual beneficial cooperation.

Minister of Finance of Belgium Johan Van Overtveldt underlined that the Belgian side highly rates visit of the chairperson of the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan to Belguim. The signed document shows mutual trust of the sides and assurance in sustainable strengthening of bilateral relations in perspectives, he said. He highly rated tax preferences, provided to foreign investors to Uzbekistan, and measures adopted to improve favourable conditions for businesses.

Within the visit, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brussels hosted a roundtable dedicated to attracting foreign investments into Uzbekistan.

Over 40 representatives of 30 companies, located in Brussels, companies, members of Wallone Agency for Foreign Trade and Investment (AWEX) and Flamand Agency for Investment and Trade, and several companies from the Netherlands attended the event.

The Uzbek side presented information on political and economic stability in Uzbekistan, favourable investment climate, guarantees for foreign investors, as well as provided tax preferences. The companies from Belgium and Netherlands also familiarized with special industrial and economic zones Navoi, Angren and Jizzakh.
