Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 5 to 8 April, a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Davron Vakhabov, visited Afghanistan on a business trip.

The delegation included representatives from major companies working in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, construction materials manufacturing, and agriculture.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation arrived in Kabul, where they held meetings with leading Afghan entrepreneurs and business representatives. The talks focused on the prospects for bilateral trade and economic cooperation, opportunities for joint projects, as well as ways to increase trade turnover and improve the investment climate.

Special attention was given to issues in the pharmaceutical sector, including the demand for pharmaceutical products in the Afghan market, product registration procedures, drug advertising regulations, and opportunities for organizing local production in Afghanistan.

The pharmaceutical market in Afghanistan is showing steady growth, with its volume currently estimated at approximately US$2 billion. However, due to the underdevelopment of local production, a significant portion of the market is filled with imported goods.

This opens up significant opportunities for Uzbekistan in supplying high-quality and competitive medicines, as well as in implementing joint production projects on Afghan soil.
