Delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in the 19th ACD Ministerial meeting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 June 2024, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhromjon Aloev, took part in the 19th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial meeting, held in Tehran under the chairmanship of the Iranian side.

Delegations of foreign ministries from 31 states and representatives of 8 regional organizations also attended the event.

The heads of delegations discussed issues of expanding and strengthening cooperation within the Dialogue, in particular, developing joint measures to boost ties in trade, economic, food, energy and other spheres. Acute topics of the regional and global agenda, in particular the current situation in the Middle East, were discussed.

In his speech, the head of Uzbekistan delegation noted the value of the role of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue in countering threats and new dangers in a difficult global situation and strengthening relations.

Participants of the event were informed about our country’s position on a number of current global and regional issues, including resolving the Palestinian-Israeli problem.

The importance of focusing on deepening the political and diplomatic dialogue was noted, in particular, the significance of the “Samarkand Solidarity Initiative” was emphasized, which was proposed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the aim of engaging in a global dialogue all parties that are ready for open and constructive cooperation.

The need to strengthen interconnectivity between regions by creating transport corridors, solving problems of food shortages, ensuring energy security, supporting regional environmental projects and introducing green technologies, as well as intensifying cultural and humanitarian cooperation and tourist exchanges were stated.

Following the meeting, it was decided to appoint Nasir Reden Taamer Al-Motairi, representative of Kuwait, as the Secretary General of the Dialogue, and Mahammad Taghi Hossein, representative of Iran, as his Deputy. The participants also approved the Tehran Declaration on the theme “Towards the Asian Community through a renewed Asia Cooperation Dialogue”, which reflects the position of support for the holding of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand in 2025.
