Delegation of Tokyo Government Holds Meetings with State Companies and Representations in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  From 19 to 23 August 2024, productive briefing meetings were held between representatives of the Tokyo government, employees of Deloitte Tohmatsu, the Japanese company “Smart City Research Institute,” and the leadership of state companies and representations in Uzbekistan.

During the visit, a general meeting was organized in Tashkent with all representatives of interested state companies of Uzbekistan, and successful meetings were held with each ministry and department throughout the week.

Throughout the working week, the Japanese delegation held personal meetings with representatives of state companies and representations of Uzbekistan: the Embassy of Japan in Tashkent, the Tashkent City Hall (khokimiyat), Uzavtosanoat, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, the IT Park, the Ministry of Higher Education, Technologies and Innovations, Japanese companies JICA and JETRO, the “Research Institute of Standardization, Certification and Technical Regulation” (Institute of Standards), Tashkent State Transport University, and Turin Polytechnic University.

During discussions on collaboration between the Japanese company “Smart City Research Institute” in the field of artificial intelligence and Uzbek state companies, issues of mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed, including the opening of a joint venture, a training center, experience exchange, and employee upskilling. As a result, memorandums of international cooperation will be signed, and a roadmap will be outlined.

Additionally, discussions were held with the Tashkent City Hall, the Ministry of Higher Education, Technologies and Innovations, Japanese companies JICA and JETRO about the possibility of opening a branch of Tokyo Imperial University in Tashkent.

Following the meeting with Tashkent State Transport University (TSTU), a memorandum of international cooperation was signed with the Japanese company “Smart City Research Institute” in the field of artificial intelligence training and programming.

A productive meeting was also held with the Turin Polytechnic Institute on international cooperation in education and staff development, resulting in the signing of a memorandum and subsequent updating of the student schedule based on the training program.
