Dehkanabad potash fertilizers plant produces 180,000 tonnes of products
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Dehkanabad Plant on Production of Potash Fertilizers, located in Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan, produced 180,000 tonnes of potash fertilizers in 2011, UzA reported quoting Deputy Head of Department of planning and economic analysis of the plant Oybek Kurbanov.

According to the Statistics Department of Kashkadarya region, the plant produced 17,100 tonnes of potash fertilizers in January 2012. In line with the project, it is planned to produce over 200,000 tonnes of fertilizers in 2012.

Oybek Kurbanov underlined that currently, the plant processes 700,000 tonnes of sylvinite a year and produces 200,000 tonnes of KCI-fertilizers. Main part of them is exported to Sri Lanka, China, Malaysia, Singapore and other states.

Dehkanabad Plant on Production of Potash Fertilizers has been commissioned in July 2010. The project capacity of the plant is 200,000 tonnes of product a year. The project cost was US$123.7 million.

Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan allocated US$61.9 million loan, while China’s Eximbank issued US$41.7 million loan to finance the project. Uzkimyosanoat also directed its own funds to finance the construction.

Uzbekistan started to construct Dehkanabad Plant on Production of Potash Fertilizers in 2007 on the base of Tyubegata potassium salts deposit. In 2008, Uzkimyosanoat inked agreements with Russia’s Zapodnouralskiy Machinjstroitelniy Kontsern and China’s CITIC Pacific Ltd on construction of the plant. In particular, the Russian firm will build mining complex and Chinese firm - processing plant.

Uzbekistan is planning to construction the second line of the plant. The second line of Dehkanabad potash fertilizers plant with the cost of US$254.5 million envisages expanding production capacities by three times to 600,000 potash fertilizers a year, of which 350,000 tonnes will be exported. The project will be implemented in four year. Construction works started at the end of 2011.

In 2011, Russia’s Zapadno-Ural Machinery-Construction Concern (ZUMK) signed a contract with Uzkimyosanoat on expanding capacities of mining complex with the cost of US$128 million, while China’s CITIC Ltd inked an agreement with Uzkimyosanoat to expand enrichment complex for US$110 million.

The project will be financed due to US$110.5 million loan of China Eximbank, resources of Uzkimyosanoat and Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan at the size of US$128.1 million.

In line with the investment programme for 2012, it is planned to use investments for US$100 million this year.

This year, the project on expanding energy supply of Dehkanabad Plant on Production of Potash Fertilizers will be started this year. The project envisages construction of transformer stations with the capacity of 125,000 kilovolt-ampere each and 100 km of electricity supply line.

In 2012-2013, it is planned to invest US$67.8 million to the project. Uzbekenergo state joint stock company will issue US$37.5 million to the project and other part will be covered with loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan. Within the project, it is planned to use US$30 million of investments this year.
