Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The defense ministers of Russia and Uzbekistan, Andrei Belousov and Shukhrat Khamukhamedov, participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the "Oda Stoykosti" (Ode to Resilience) monument, held at the "Victory Park" memorial complex in Tashkent.
The event took place as part of the official visit of the Russian Minister of Defense to Uzbekistan.
The "Oda Stoykosti" monument, opened on May 9, 2020, honors the memory of Uzbek woman Zulfiya Zakirova, who lost five sons who fought on the frontlines during the Great Patriotic War. The monument symbolizes all women who endured the loss of their children, husbands, and loved ones during the war.
The "Victory Park" complex includes an artificial burial mound, with the Museum of Glory located at its base. The museum’s exhibits highlight Uzbekistan’s contribution to the victory in World War II. At the top of the mound stands the sculptural composition "Eternal Heroism."
The central feature of the composition is a monument to Soviet Union Hero General-Major Sabir Rakhimov, as well as to all Uzbeks who participated in the war. Nearby is a memorial plaque with the names of 301 Uzbeks who were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
