Davis Cup: Uzbekistan to face Japan in second round
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Uzbekistan national team qualified to the second round of the Asia-Oceania Davis Cup Group I, after clinching 3-2 victory over New Zealand in Namangan.
After Uzbekistan sealed overall victory, captain Peter Lebed replaced team leaders Denis Istomin and Farrukh Dustov with Murat Inoyatov and Vaja Uzakov.
But, reserve players of national team could meet expectations. Murat Inoyatov lost to Artem Sitak in straight sets - 1-6, 7-6(5) and 3-6. Vaja Uzakov was beaten by Michael Vinus – 3-6 and 0-6.
In the second round, Uzbekistan will travel to Japan, which outplayed Philippines in the first round. The tie will be held on 8-11 July 2011.
