Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day, it is my great pleasure to extend my warmest and most sincere congratulations. I wish prosperity, peace, well-being, and success to the people of Uzbekistan. It is an honor for me to work in this remarkable country. Here, I have learned that the greatest wealth of Uzbekistan is not its gold or cotton, but its wonderful people.

I am confident that the political and diplomatic relations between Romania and Uzbekistan will continue to develop dynamically. The ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan offer great prospects for expanding dialogue and contacts in all areas. There is great potential for bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

At the same time, Romania will remain an active supporter of deepening cooperation between the European Union and Uzbekistan, as well as promoting new projects of mutual interest that will contribute to strengthening regional stability and expanding ties between our regions.

Together, we can achieve new heights. I fondly remember that on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, I climbed the Pulat Khan Plateau (2823 meters). On the eve of the 31st anniversary, I conquered Mount Hazrat Sultan (4083 meters) in the Kashkadarya region, and on the occasion of the 30th anniversary, I climbed Greater Chimgan (3309 meters). These were important people-to-people diplomacy events organized by the Embassy of Romania in Tashkent on Uzbekistan’s Independence Day.
