Customs service reveals 28,532 cases of violations in 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs service of Uzbekistan fulfilled budget task with 0.5% surplus in 2011 within execution of its fiscal functions. The State Budget received about 2.556 trillion soums, the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said.

Besides, the customs service registered 286,306 freight customs declarations at the customs post in 2011, the committee added.

The committee said that 28,532 facts of violations were revealed in 2011. Total cost of seized goods and values, which illegally moved through customs border and confiscated from violators, made up over 110 billion soums. The customs bodies opened 938 criminal cases and 26,331 administrative cases.

The customs officers of Uzbekistan detained 526.1 tonnes of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, 227,800 tonnes of oil and lubricant materials, 243,200 tonnes of meat and meat products, 1.195 million cigarettes without excise stamps, 40,100 liters of edible oil and 296 heads of cattle, as well as other goods.

State Customs Committee also fights against drug smuggling and weapons. In 2011, the service seized 185.6 kg of hard drugs, 45,700 psychotropic oils, 7.5 kg of gunpowder, 31 weapons, 3635 bullets, etc.
