Customs officers stopped the smuggling of ancient coins

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A citizen was detained at Bukhara airport for trying to take out almost 100 historical coins. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Customs Committee of the Bukhara Region.

Employees of the border customs post at Bukhara airport inspected the luggage of a citizen heading to Moscow.

During the inspection, 96 numismatic items of historical value were discovered that were not indicated in the accompanying documents and were not declared during the oral examination.

To determine the age of the discovered numismatic objects, specialists from the cultural heritage department of Bukhara region will conduct an artistic examination. In addition, additional investigation is underway.

Customs officers at the border customs post at Urgench airport managed to prevent an attempt to smuggle in ancient coins.

Passenger R.V., who flew abroad from Urgench International Airport, underwent the standard process of screening hand luggage in accordance with established rules.

During this check, it turned out that his luggage contained 50 antique copper coins minted between 1898 and 1963, as well as in the 15th century, in Bukhara and Samarkand.

In connection with this case, customs officers drew up a protocol on violation of administrative rules. By decision of the Urgench City Court, these coins became state property.

At the moment, these historical coins have been transferred to the Khiva State Museum-Reserve “Ichan-Kala”.
