Customs officers detain 117 tonnes of metal
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan prevented 110 cases of violations and seized 117 tonnes of metal for 51 million soums in the past period of 2010.

Uzbekistan State Customs Committee said the customs officers detained 2.24 tonnes of aluminum scrap during inspection of Kamaz truck in Namangan. The violators were planning to smuggle metal to neighbouring state.

In Syrdarya region, the customs officers seized 5 tonnes of ferrous metal during inspection of Zil truck. The cargo was also planned to smuggle abroad.

Similar violation was recorded in Navoi region. The officers reviewed Zil truck and detained 5 tonnes of ferrous metal scrap. The customs officers detained 2.6 tonnes of ferrous metal in Bukhara region.

In Ferghana region, local citizen stored 10 tonnes of non-ferrous metal and it was planned to smuggle cargo to neighbouring country.

State Customs Committee said that the investigations are underway on these violation facts.
