Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12-13 September 2020, a two-day training seminar was held in the Tashkent region on concluding intergovernmental investment agreements for employees of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of national and foreign experts.

The event is hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Law Reform Program and White and Case law firm.

During the training, the participants discussed current approaches to protecting state interests, studied the conclusion of agreements on the promotion and protection of investments from the point of view of the practice of foreign countries, the experience of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in the procedures for resolving investment disputes.

The participants of the event also analyzed the current state of the practical implementation of the provisions of the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On investments and investment activities" from 25 December 2019 and "On international treaties" from 6 February 2019.

The practice of conducting trainings will contribute to the effective conduct of legal due diligence on investment agreements under development
