Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Crop Testing Center under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan is testing new varieties suitable for the soil and climatic conditions of our republic, resistant to diseases and pests, high yield and high quality.

In 2022, the fiber quality indicators of cotton samples were studied from selected 85 new varieties that were tested at variety testing stations in the regions. Particular attention is paid to fiber yield, fiber density, yardage, tensile strength, specific length, microns and weight of 1000 seeds. Based on the test results, cotton varieties will be included in the State Register for cultivation in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Also, 50,000 raspberry seedlings are grown on an area of 2.5 hectares of the Vodil variety testing station in Ferghana region in order to introduce it into production.

In addition, seedlings of foreign varieties of apple trees "Stark spur red", "Voyinsep", "Jorjkov", "Red atlas", "Leberti" were planted in this area for observation and research. Almonds “Oq marvarid”, pomegranate “Surxon yulduzi”, apricot varieties “Navruz” and “Salovat” are also grown, planted for testing at the variety testing station “Denov” in Surkhandarya region.
