Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 13 to 17 November 2023, the 21st session of the Committee to Review the Implementation of the UN Convention (CRIC 21) will be held at the Silk Road Congress Hall in Samarkand.

The event will include consultations between participating countries on the implementation of the Convention for Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Northern Mediterranean, and Central and Eastern Europe.

During CRIC 21, the parties will review the implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in accordance with the Strategic Objectives of the UNCCD Strategy Framework 2018-2030 and its progress with a view to providing targeted recommendations. It will also provide an update on specific activities to support Parties in their voluntary efforts to set land degradation neutrality (LDN) targets and how countries are implementing the strategy with support from the Global Mechanism and relevant partners, including the LDN Fund.

In addition, the Intergovernmental Working Group on Effective Drought Management Policies and Implementation will present its progress report as part of CRIC21. Also in accordance with Decision 7/COP15 (Annex I), a joint consultation will be held to provide recommendations and an independent assessment to identify possible future actions to further improve the implementation of the UNCCD Strategic Framework 2018-2030.

In accordance with the requests of the Parties, the session will facilitate an interactive exchange of views between the Parties and their partners.

The high-level event is organized by the Government of Uzbekistan under the auspices of CRIC 21.
