Courts on civil affairs consider over 161,000 cases in 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Supreme Court of Uzbekistan held a session of its presidium, dedicated to activities of courts of general jurisdiction in 2012 and upcoming tasks.

Judges of Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, chairpersons of regional and other courts on civil and criminal affairs participated the session, UzA reported.

In 2012, courts on civil affairs considered over 161,000 cases and court decision were made on over 84.7% of cases. Some 89.4% applications on cases, on which courts adopted decision, were satisfied. The courts also issued over 1.9 million court orders on levying over 658 billion soums.

Number of considered cases at courts of criminal affairs decreased by 9.9% year-on-year in 2012, administrative violations – by 3.1%. Rate of conviction for certain crimes reduced, including theft, vandalism, crimes related to drug trafficking, theft by embezzlement or misappropriation, intentional assault, robbery, burglary and violation of traffic safety rules.

In 2012, the successful use of the reconciliation institute helped to exempt over 12,000 people from criminal liability and 138,000 people since launch of the reconciliation institute.

Some 2,700 people, who covered damages for over 89 billion soums, were exempted from criminal liability. Overall, 23,000 people, who repaid damages for 246 billion soums, received punishments, which are not related with jail.
