Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the 38th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, which began work in Bangkok, experts consider various issues. It was decided that at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2022, the countries of Asia and Oceania would participate.

The members of the General Assembly approved the decision to unite the countries of Oceania under the flag of our continental sport.

This process was tested in 2017 in Turkmenistan, where the Asian Games were held in indoor and martial arts Then, Fiji, one of the countries of Oceania, won gold and silver medals in the tournament and became a leader among the representatives of the region.

“Oceania and Asia are very close in many ways. Now we are united in sports. This is great news, says Robin Mitchell, president of the National Olympic Committee of Oceania.

So, at the next Asian Games in 2022 in Hangzhou, athletes from Oceania will compete for medals.

However, the question remains open in which sports and how many athletes will participate in the Asian Games. There will also be considered the issue of joint licensing boxing and rowing tournaments for athletes from two continents.
