Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the Project Coordinator of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Uzbekistan Antti Karttunen.

During the meeting, issues of combating human trafficking and forced labor, empowering women in all spheres, joint work on gender equality and plans for the future were discussed.

It was noted that thanks to the strong political will of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, based on the idea of “New Uzbekistan – a people’s and humane state,” large-scale reforms are being carried out aimed at strengthening the political and legal basis of the state and society, and the further development of the human rights system in these processes.

The OSCE project coordinator in Uzbekistan expressed support for the democratic reforms being carried out in the country and noted the growing role of the country’s parliament in reforming society.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen close dialogue and cooperation.
