Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 October, a high-level meeting in Ashgabat marked the launch of the Trans-Caspian coordination platform for transport connections.
The event saw participation from EU Commissioner for International Cooperation Jutta Urpilainen, Advisor to the Director-General of the European Commission on International Cooperation Henrik Holloway, as well as representatives from relevant ministries of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Armenia, Georgia, and international financial institutions such as the Asian Development Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, Islamic Development Bank, and the World Bank.
The meeting emphasized the importance of expanding transport infrastructure and strengthening connectivity in the region to stimulate economic growth.
The new coordination platform is aimed at increasing the resilience of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, transforming it into a multimodal route connecting Europe and Asia.
This initiative is expected to attract investments in railway, road, and port infrastructure, strengthen economic ties between Europe and Central Asia, and enhance the security and sustainability of transport corridors.
Additionally, collaborative efforts within the platform will focus on actively implementing technological innovations in the transport sector.
