Cooperation with Meta representative on artificial intelligence and online education discussed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Oleg Pekos met with a representative of Meta responsible for Central Asia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Pekos invited the guest to the international event “ICTWeek – 2025,” scheduled to take place from 23 to 26 September.
Deputy Minister R. Karimjonov spoke about the significance and scale of the event, noting that Meta could play an active role during the week by setting up an exhibition booth, participating in panel presentations, and inviting artificial intelligence experts.
The meeting also covered the planned launch of the online platform “1M AI Prompters” in May this year. A proposal was made to host Meta’s educational courses on the platform.
Additionally, Pekos shared the successful experience of integrating the “LLaMA” model into Uzbekistan’s e-government system through a pilot project with the Ministry of Justice. As part of this initiative, a chatbot based on LLaMA was developed to assist users in accessing public services and preparing official documents.
Information was also presented about an upcoming event to be organized in cooperation with NVIDIA, which will bring together 300 students from specialized universities across Uzbekistan. A proposal was made to hold a similar event in partnership with Meta.
Meta’s representative, S. Abeywardena, expressed support for the initiative to adapt artificial intelligence to the Uzbek language and develop local information infrastructure for training purposes. He cited successful projects in Taiwan and Kazakhstan as examples. He also stated Meta’s readiness to support virtual sessions with its engineers, train specialists in working with open-source software, and integrate the LLaMA model into government websites.
Both sides expressed their commitment to expanding and deepening cooperation in various areas. Meta praised Uzbekistan’s efforts toward digital transformation and the development of artificial intelligence.
