Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 May 2021, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodiq Safoev with representatives of the VEON group of companies, VimpelCom PJSC, Unitel LLC.

During the meeting, issues of liberalization of the Internet space of Uzbekistan, participation of BEELINE in the digitalization of the Republic of Uzbekistan were considered.

Information was given on the reforms being carried out in the country, in particular, on the provision of benefits and preferences to foreign investors, the expansion of cooperation with international structures, including with a view to attracting new technologies and software products to the country’s telecommunications industry.

The parties made proposals to improve the legislative framework of our country in this area.

Representatives of VEON, VimpelCom PJSC, Unitel LLC expressed their desire to continue their participation in investment projects aimed at improving the organizational and institutional foundations of the digital economy and e-government, developing telecommunications infrastructure, expanding broadband Internet use, development and modernization mobile networks and other telecommunication services.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint work to further deepen bilateral ties.
