Cooperation between Egypt and Uzbekistan discussed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Investment, Mahmoud Mohieldin met with Uzbekistani Deputy Prime Minister, Rustam Qosimov to discuss means of developing economic and investment relations with Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by the Uzbekistani Ambassador to Egypt, Shah Azeem; Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anwar Salah; Vice Chairperson of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, Neveen El Shafi and a representative of the Ministry of International Cooperation.

Mohieldin discussed with Uzbekistani delegation investment opportunities available in Egypt as well as the government’s current effort to create an attractive climate for foreign investments. He pointed out that there are great investment opportunities between the two countries.

Mohieldin also referred to the possibility of cooperation between companies affiliated to both the Egyptian and Uzbekistani ministries of investments in the fields of tourism, drugs, medical care, building materials, construction, food industries and spinning. Mohieldin said that the Ministry of Investment is willing to transfer Egyptian experiences to Uzbekistan in the fields of capital markets and stock exchanges by sending technical missions in the fields.

Mohieldin highlighted the importance of organizing mutual visits to companies and investors between both countries to explore investment opportunities available in them.

Qosimov welcomed the enhancement of economic and investment relations with Egypt in all fields, while citing that drug sector is among the major and initial fields of cooperation. The Uzbekistani market need drugs at a value of USD 400 million per year, of which only USD 60 million is available in the local market, accordingly there are great opportunity for cooperation with Egypt.

Mohieldin offered to send an Egyptian technical mission from GAFI, the Drugs Holding Company along with some of its affiliated companies, the Holding Company for Construction and building materials companies and representatives from the private sector to visit Uzbekistan next month to discuss investment opportunities available.
