Contract signed for modernization of oncology institutions in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the annual Spring Meetings of the World Bank, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Muhammad Al-Jasser.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Central Bank Timur Ishmetov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhom Umrzakov, Advisor to the Minister Jasur Karshibaev, and other key officials. From the IDB side, Vice President for Operations Rami Said was present.
The parties highly appreciated the long-standing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IDB, discussed ongoing projects, and prospects for further collaboration. Special mention was made of the bank's financial and technical support for social and infrastructure projects in the country.
To strengthen the economic potential, an initiative was proposed to launch joint programs for training professionals in sectors such as energy, agribusiness, digital economy, and logistics.
As part of the meeting, a contract was signed for the second phase of the modernization of oncology institutions in Uzbekistan.
Additionally, prospects for cooperation within the Reverse Linkage program were discussed, focusing on learning from international experiences in budget planning and water management reforms, as well as attracting foreign experts.
Muhammad Al-Jasser highly praised the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed the IDB’s readiness to provide comprehensive support for these transformations.
At the conclusion of the talks, both parties confirmed their intention to strengthen the partnership, jointly implement new projects, and deepen long-term cooperation.
