Construction Volume in Uzbekistan Exceeds 91 Trillion Soums in January–May 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first five months of 2025, the volume of construction work completed in Uzbekistan reached 91.6215 trillion soums, marking a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the National Committee of Statistics.

An analysis of construction activity by type of economic activity shows the continued dominance of building construction. This segment accounted for 68.4% of the total construction volume, with output reaching 104.3% of last year’s level.

Significant growth was observed in the construction of civil engineering facilities, which made up 20.7% of the total and increased by 21.4% year-on-year. Specialized construction activities accounted for 10.9% of the total volume, showing the highest growth rate at 130.3% compared to the previous year.

Large construction companies completed work worth 21.9143 trillion soums during the reporting period, a growth of 18.4%. Their share in total construction activity rose to 23.9%, up 1.7 percentage points.

Small enterprises and microfirms were responsible for a major portion of the work — 51.2%, with a total output of 46.9052 trillion soums, which is 7.7% higher than in January–May 2024.

The informal sector also made a significant contribution, accounting for 24.9% of total construction volume, or 22.8020 trillion soums. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a 7.2% increase.

The highest growth rates in construction work performed by large companies were recorded in the Andijan region (225.3% compared to the same period in 2024), Jizzakh region (187.3%), and Tashkent region (179.2%), indicating a surge in major investment and infrastructure projects in these areas.
