Construction of Toll Highways Tashkent–Samarkand and Tashkent–Andijan to Begin in 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2026, Uzbekistan will launch the construction of its first toll highways, linking Tashkent with Samarkand and Andijan. These projects are included in the 2026–2028 financial strategy of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
According to the document, the initiatives will be implemented with the support of international financial institutions. In addition to building new highways, the plan provides for the overhaul of existing roads to increase capacity and enhance safety, drawing on international best practices.
It should be recalled that in July, Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov, speaking during a Government Hour session at the Legislative Chamber, announced that under the first stage of the Tashkent–Andijan toll road project, tender procedures are expected to be completed this year, with construction to begin shortly thereafter.
Furthermore, in 2025 Uzbekistan plans to sign agreements with potential companies for the implementation of the Tashkent–Samarkand toll highway project.
