Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The construction of the Tashkent-Andijan toll road will commence in 2026 and is scheduled for completion by 2032.

Jasurbek Choriev, Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, mentioned that the project will take 6 years and 3 months to complete.

The road will feature 10 tunnels with a total length of 33 km, the longest of which will stretch 6.8 km. The new route is expected to reduce travel time by 2 hours and 14 minutes.

Over 64% of the road will be newly constructed, while 36% will undergo reconstruction.

The total length of the first-category road will be 314 km, with six lanes of traffic. The project will be executed in three stages: Tashkent to Angren (78 km), Angren to Pop (93 km), and Pop to Andijan (143 km). The road will be paved with cement-concrete material.

A total of 102 artificial structures, including overpasses spanning 1,122 meters, will be built.

The estimated cost of the project is $4.28 billion, with the final cost to be determined after the approval of the feasibility study. The public-private partnership (PPP) agreement is set for 49 years.

A contract worth $6.78 million has been signed with a consortium that includes Ove Arup and Partners International Limited, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP for project analysis and consultation.

The project concept will be finalized by October 2024, with the first tender set for March 2025. An agreement with the winner is expected in April 2026, and construction will begin later that year, wrapping up by 2032.

Discussions on the toll road project, including the construction of a new tunnel at the Kamchik Pass, have been ongoing since 2019.
