Construction of new Tashkent metro line from Pushkin Station to TTZ to begin on 15 June 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Construction of a new line of the Tashkent Metro, running from Pushkin Station to the TTZ area, is scheduled to begin on 15 June 2025, according to Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov in an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 television channel.

On 19 May, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation outlining the future development of the capital’s metro system. The implementation of the project will proceed in two stages.

During a previous presentation in March, the President issued a number of specific instructions, which allowed the government to prepare a revised plan for the construction of the new line, including detailed information on funding sources and implementation timelines.

Minister Makhkamov noted that after a thorough analysis of the proposed extension of the Chilanzar Line from Buyuk Ipak Yuli Station to the TTZ area, a decision was made to begin the new branch from Pushkin Station, also known as Salar.

This decision was based on the fact that over 140,000 people commute daily from Chirchik, Kibray, and Gazalkent, creating significant traffic congestion near Buyuk Ipak Yuli Station.

Ilkhom Makhkamov emphasized that construction is scheduled to begin on June 15 and that contractors with international experience will be engaged in the project. According to him, the new metro line is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Additionally, the Minister announced that the President has instructed the government to begin the design and construction of another metro line — from Dustlik Station to the "New Tashkent" district.
