Competition Development Committee uncovers violations in government procurement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Development and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan reported that violations in government procurement procedures amounting to approximately 20 billion soums were identified for July and August.

Significant violations were found at the Kokan City Improvement Department, with discrepancies totaling 6.3 billion UZS, and at the Chirakchin District Medical Association in the Kashkadarya Region, where the violation amount was 1.7 billion soums.

Other violations were detected in procurement processes at the Children’s Hematology Center in Tashkent (907 million soums), the Academic Lyceum at the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute (1 billion soums), and specialized schools across several regions.

The committee’s investigation revealed actions limiting competition and non-compliance with the "Law on Government Procurement."

As a result of the audits, administrative cases were initiated against the procurers, and the procurement processes with violations were canceled. The committee issued directives to correct the violations and prevent similar issues in the future. The involved contractors have been held accountable.
