Companies from Lithuania begin to hire migrant workers from Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Companies from Lithuania are increasingly hiring migrant workers from Central Asian countries, including from Uzbekistan. This was announced by the Director of the Lithuanian Migration Department, Evelina Gudzinskaite.

According to her data, in Lithuania, there is an increase in the number of labor migrants from Central Asian countries, while the number of people coming from Ukraine and Belarus is decreasing.

According to her, the interest of Lithuanian enterprises in workers has shifted towards Central Asia and India, with a decrease in emphasis on Belarus and Ukraine.

Now the main countries from which workers are attracted are Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Mostly workers come from Uzbekistan, Gudzinskaite noted.

As of the end of March, 9.7 thousand citizens of Uzbekistan were working in Lithuania, compared to 1.8 thousand in January.

“The number of citizens of Uzbekistan has increased more than four times,” the director emphasized.
