Commercial banks allocated mortgage loans for 9.1 trillion soums in 2020

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2020, commercial banks of Uzbekistan allocated mortgage loans to 77,274 individuals in the amount of 9.1 trillion soums, which is 1.1 trillion soums more than in 2019, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

In 2020, mortgage loans increased in Tashkent city - 87.4% (by 1.484.6 billion soums more than last year), in Navoi region - 81.9% (by 152.1 billion soums), Syrdarya region - 63.2% (by 122.8 billion soums). Samarkand region - 34.8% (225.0 billion soums).

Of the total volume of mortgage loans, 5.1 trillion soums (56.1%) were directed to the purchase of residential buildings built by the IC "Qishlok Qurilish Invest" and the IC "Zshakar Qurilish Invest", 3.7 trillion soums (40.8%) - housing in the primary market (including 1.7 trillion soums under the new order) and 0.3 trillion soums. soums (3.1%) allocated for the purchase of housing in the secondary market.

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-5886 from 28 November 2019 “On additional measures to improve the mechanisms of mortgage lending”, a new procedure for mortgage lending was adopted, on the basis of which 7,927 citizens were allocated loans with a total value of 1,747.0 billion soums. In particular, 749.0 billion soums (42.9%) were issued for the purchase of 1 and 2-room apartments, 998.0 billion soums (57.1%) - for the purchase of 3 and more room apartments.

The largest share of mortgage loans falls on Samarkand region (422.1 billion soums), the city of Tashkent (153.7 billion soums), Ferghana (78.9 billion soums) and Surkhandarya regions (77.4 billion soums).

It should be noted that within the framework of the new order of 2,192, 503.8 billion soums of mortgage loans were allocated to citizens in need of better housing conditions and received subsidies.

A significant share of these loans falls on Samarkand region - 49.6% (249.9 billion soums), Surkhandarya region - 9.8% (49.3 billion soums), Fergana region - 7.6% (38.4 billion soums), Bukhara region - 8.5% (42.6 billion soums).
