Coins in Hamster Kombat are not considered as crypto-assets - NAPP

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Accumulated units in the game Hamster Kombat are not classified as crypto-assets. This was announced by the National Agency for Perspective Projects of Uzbekistan.

The agency clarified that Play-to-earn is a type of game where players can earn real money or other valuable rewards through gameplay. Hamster Kombat does not fall into this category because the accumulated coins (units) in the game do not have backing or real utility, unlike utility crypto-assets.

According to the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a crypto-asset is a property right represented by a set of digital records in a distributed ledger (blockchain) that has value and an owner. The units in Hamster Kombat do not meet this definition as they are not associated with blockchain technology. Therefore, these units are not considered crypto-assets, the agency added.

The agency emphasized that there is a possibility that in the future, coins from Hamster Kombat could move onto the blockchain and become crypto-assets. If this happens, crypto-assets could be listed on crypto platforms. However, such crypto-assets often depreciate quickly due to the lack of useful functionality, they noted at NAPP.

The agency clarified that the purchase and sale of accumulated units in Hamster Kombat, if they were recognized as crypto-assets, would only be possible through national providers of crypto asset services, once listed on a crypto exchange or in a crypto store trading basket.

Until the units in the Hamster Kombat game are linked to blockchain, the regulation of their circulation does not fall under the competence of the Agency.
