Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An incident occurred in the Jondor district of Bukhara region, where a 45-year-old driver of a Cobalt intentionally ran over a road patrol officer. A video from the scene quickly went viral on social media.

Footage from the injured inspector’s body camera shows the driver, who had parked in a second row, using obscene language after the traffic officer informed him that a protocol would be issued for violating parking regulations.

The driver then gets into his car and suddenly swerves to the left, knocking down one of the two inspectors. At that moment, a Matiz driving in its lane also clips the officer. Following the incident, the Cobalt driver stops the vehicle, and the injured officer was transported to a medical facility with injuries.

Uzbekistan’s General Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson, Hayot Shamsutdinov, reported that a criminal case has been initiated under Article 219 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (resistance to a government representative or a person performing a civic duty). The suspect has been detained.
