CNPC to modernize the Bukhara oil refinery

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) will modernize the Bukhara oil refinery to stop the production of AI-80 gasoline, Deputy Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz Odil Temirov said this in an interview with O’zbekiston 24 TV channel.

He said that the Uzbekneftegaz conducted negotiations and studies in cooperation with 3-4 companies to stop the production of AI-80 gasoline for last three years.

The representative of Uzbekneftegaz emphasized that it will take more than two years to modernize the plant.

Odil Temirov noted that during a recent visit to China, Uzbekneftegaz and CNPC agreed to modernize the Bukhara oil refinery.

According to him, today the parties have begun work on modernizing the Bukhara oil refinery.

He noted that AI-80 gasoline, which began production in 2000, complies with the Euro-2 standard. He recalled that the President of Uzbekistan gave instructions for the production of gasoline that meets the requirements of Euro-5 and Euro-6.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov to resolve the issue of abandoning AI-80 gasoline from 2025.

The first stage of the Bukhara oil refinery was commissioned in 1997. The design and construction of the plant was carried out with the involvement of the TECHNIP consortium.

The production capacity of the plant allows the production of such petroleum products as automobile gasoline of various grades (AI 91, 92, 95, QuWatt 95, 98 and 80), aviation fuel JET A-1 and semi-synthetic fuel, diesel fuel of the brands EKO L (summer), EKO Z (winter), diesel fuel Euro grades K4, K5 and K6, diesel fuel grades TDL (summer), TDU (heavy), fuel oil grades M100 and M40, pyrolysis gasoline, propane refrigerant, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), hydrocarbon solvent C4 -135/220, technical sulfur.
