CNODC to invest another US$14.9m to exploration works in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China National Oil & Gas Exploration & Development Corp. (CNODC) will invest another US$14.9 million to exploration works in investment blocks in Uzbekistan in 2012-2014.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On additional measures on further implementation of agreement on conducting exploration works at investment blocks in Uzbekistan” on 27 March 2012. The document approved additional agreement between CNODC and Uzbekneftegaz national holding company on extension term of exploration works for three years.

According to the resolution, CNODC received opportunity to extend term of exploration works within the contract territory with condition that it will return 25% of contract area in future.

In June 2006, CNODC and Uzbekneftegaz signed an agreement on exploration of five investment blocks in Ustyurt, Bukhara-Khiva and Ferghana oil and gas regions for five years. CNPC Silk Road Group llc was founded to project implementation.

CNODC fully implemented exploration programme at the volume of 8,894 km of 2D seismic works and 1,009 km of 3D works. Thirteen exploration and search wells were drilled. Total investments made up US$260.2 million.

In the result of the exploration at Karakul block, three fields – Hodjasayat, Hodjadavlat and Vostochniy Alat were revealed and twp perspective structures were prepared to drilling.
