Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and the Ministry of Internal Affairs began the first stage of the “Clean Air Month” event throughout Uzbekistan.

This campaign is carried out in two stages to implement the laws “On Atmospheric Air Protection” and “On Environmental Control”.

The first stage runs from 10 April to 10 May, the second stage will be from 10 August to 10 September, and in Tashkent from 10 September to 10 October.

As part of the event, vehicles will be checked for the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere at road patrol posts and on the central streets of cities and regions across the country. Particular attention will be paid to cars running on gasoline, diesel, as well as natural compressed and liquefied gas.

Vehicles that do not comply with environmental standards will be temporarily prohibited from operation until the shortcomings are corrected.

Clean Air Month is celebrated annually to reduce air pollution levels.

Last year, 318,556 vehicles were inspected as part of environmental control, which prevented the release of more than 209 thousand tons of pollutants into the atmosphere.
