Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Committee on Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan has urged citizens not to share or like religious posts on the internet.

Social media channels promoting extremist ideas and calling for mass riots have emerged.

The Committee warned that liking and reposting such unverified religious materials could lead to serious consequences, including significant fines.

According to Part 2 of Administrative Article 184 ("Illegal production, storage, import, or distribution of religious materials"), violators may be fined from 20 to 100 basic calculation units.

Additionally, the message emphasizes that the distribution of religious materials is only permitted after undergoing a state religious studies examination.

Citizens are advised to be cautious when downloading unverified audio, photo, and video materials from the internet.
