Citizens of Uzbekistan to be able to work in Qatar in the future

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan Bekhzod Musaev held a meeting with the Qatari delegation led by Minister of Labor Ali bin Samikh al-Marri.

The parties discussed issues of attracting labor from Uzbekistan to Qatar, training and sending it in an organized manner.

On 6 June 2023, in Samarkand, the governments of the two countries signed an agreement “On regulating the employment of labor in the territory of the State of Qatar.” The mechanisms for implementing this agreement were discussed at the meeting.

Qatar’s Minister of Labor noted the high demand for foreign labor in areas such as medicine, education, information technology, industrial processing, hotel services and media. He emphasized that the main problem for those wishing to work in Qatar is the language barrier.

Bekhzod Musaev proposed targeted training of the workforce based on existing experience to solve this problem.

Ali bin Samikh al-Marri assured that the rights of foreign workers will be reliably protected by the state. He also said that social security, health insurance, monthly expenses, transportation and accommodation of foreign workers will be fully covered by the employer. In addition, a commission has been created to protect the rights of women working abroad.

At the meeting, the creation of a joint commission between the ministries of the two countries was announced. The commission will hold a meeting in Qatar, during which an agreement on further development of cooperation will be signed.
