Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the thirty-ninth plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the transfer of persons sentenced to imprisonment for further serving of sentences" was considered.

It was noted that this Agreement was signed on 6 December 2021 during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was emphasized that the entry into force of the Treaty through its ratification would form a regulatory framework in the field of transfer of convicts, could improve the interaction between the authorized bodies of the two countries in this area.

Under this Agreement, citizens of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are given the opportunity to serve the sentence imposed by the court in their country.

According to the document, the transfer of convicts is carried out in accordance with the procedures established by law on the basis of applications from the contracting parties.

During the discussion, the senators stressed that the serving of sentences by convicts in their own country will allow them to regularly see their close relatives, which will positively affect family relations, as well as facilitate the adaptation of convicts to the social life of society.

Senators noted that the adoption of the Law serves to strengthen the protection of the rights and interests of citizens.

As a result of the discussion, the senators approved the Law.
